60007 SIR NIGEL GRESLEY
60007 SIR NIGEL GRESLEY standing in Grosmont Shed yard looking magnificent after a repaint in April 2012. This LNER Class A4 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive was the 100th Pacific built by the LNER at the famous Doncaster 'Plant' works in 1937 and was named after its designer, Sir Nigel Gresley, one of the most famous and successful locomotive designers from Great Britain. 60007 holds the post war speed record for a steam locomotive of 112 mph. Although (in 2012) it is 75 years old, it is no museum piece, and still regularly works mainline steam excursions at speeds of upto 75 mph as well as its fair share of work on the NYMR.

The steam locomotive 60010 DOMINION OF CANADA was another Gresley A4 Pacific built in 1937 at the famous Doncaster Plant works. After being scrapped by British Railways it ended up in the Canadian Railroad Museum
