Class 68 locomotives are very powerful diesel locomotives with a maximum speed of 100 mph. The Class 68 diesel locos are built for Direct Rail Services (DRS) and can pull heavy haul freight trains or equally heavy passenger trains. They are also being operated by TransPennine with sets of five Mk5a carriages, one of which is a driving trailer.
