Parish Church of Holy Trinity Scenes in English West Midlands The history of Holy Trinity Church, Coventry dates from the 12th century and is the only Medieval church in Coventry that is still complete.
It is 59 metres (194 ft) long and has a spire 72 metres (236 ft) high,
one of the tallest non-cathedral spires in the UK.
The east end was rebuilt in 1786 and the west front by Richard Charles
Hussey in 1843.

During the 1430s, the painting of the Last Judgement ('doom painting') was created above the tower arch to demonstrate the eternal consequences of both charitable and uncharitable acts. The doom painting was painted above the tower arch in 1430s. The painting was discovered in 1831, covered by a lime wash, and was then restored and varnished over by David Gee. In the years following, the varnish darkened and hid the painting from view again. In 1995, conservation and restoration work was begun and the painting was revealed 2004, which is what you see today!

More on the history of Holy Trinity Church, Coventry
The first known reference to Holy Trinity Church is in 1113. Holy
Trinity Church, Coventry's origins relate to the history of the
Benedictine Priory of St Mary which was associated with Earl Leofric and
Lady Godiva. The Holy Trinity Church, Coventry appears to have
originally been established next door to the Priory to act as a “side
chapel” to the priory church and for the use of the priory’s tenants.
The original Norman Holy Trinity Church, Coventry was all but destroyed
in a fire in 1257. The North porch was the only part of the original
building to survive and is still in use today. The rest of the church
was entirely rebuilt during the 14th Century. The walls were brightly
painted, helping those churchgoers who could not read to understand the
messages of the bible. Only one example of this ancient artwork still
remains - the 'doom painting'. During the 1430s, the painting of the
Last Judgement was created above the tower arch to demonstrate the
eternal consequences of both charitable and uncharitable acts. West Midlands images photos pictures © Phil Brown photographs docspics * Tourist information, Walks, Holidays in
