The striking sculpture of St Michael near the entrance to Coventry Cathedral (modern).
The St Michael and the Devil statue by the sculptor Jacob Epstein. This bold and striking sculpture depicts the triumph of Archangel Michael over the Devil. It is iconic, rather like a large brand name or logo it tells everyone that this is the Cathedral of St. Michael and that both buildings together are one.

The Millennium Chapel of the Stalingrad Madonna The Stalingrad Madonna (German: Stalingradmadonna) is an image of the Virgin Mary drawn by a German soldier, Kurt Reuber, in 1942 during the Battle of Stalingrad. The original is displayed in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Berlin, while copies now hang in the cathedrals of Berlin, Coventry and Kazan Cathedral, Volgograd as a sign of the reconciliation between Germany and its enemies the United Kingdom and Russia during the Second World War.[1]
It is a most peaceful room to sit down and reflect, especially if you know about the Battle of Stalingrad. The Chapel of Christ in Gethemane in Coventry Cathedral (modern)
The mural by Stephen Sykes portrays an angel holding the cup of suffering in the Chapel of Christ in Gethsemane. The reference is to Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. To the right are the sleeping disciples and the iron screen in front represents the crown of thorns, designed by Basil Spence and made by the Royal Engineers.
The Jacob Bohme Exhibition in Coventry Cathedral (modern)
Jacob Böhme (1575-1624) is one of the most important German thinkers: Bohme influenced literature, philosophy, religion and art well beyond national borders. 100 years after the Reformation, Böhme argued for a far-reaching philosophical and spiritual renewal. The exhibition introduces Böhme’s thought and his influence in Britain e.g. his vision of a harmonious world and his creative language inspired many English poets and artists, including John Milton, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Blake. The latter was deeply impressed by Böhme’s writings on the role of the divine in human imagination and his emphasis on the dignity of humanity and on peace and freedom - a contemporary resonance is called for.
