Station, Disused Medieval Christchurch Spire, Ford's Hospital Almshouses, Houses on Bayley Lane e.g. Golden Cross Inn, Town Hall (Council House) Scenes in English West Midlands Despite the destruction of many of Coventry's medieval buildings, if you walk around you can still find a few things of interest. Most are around the area close to the old cathedral and parish church. There are also some fine Victorian and Edwardian buildings.
The very busy Coventry station with many suburban services serving the West Midlands and express trains to London too.
A high rise block of offices and the spire of the disused church tower of the once medieval church of Christchurch (Greyfriars), Coventry.
The tower of Christchurch (Christ Church) is one of the three 'famous' spires of Coventry. (The others are the Parish Church and ruined medieval Cathedral) The original Christchurch was built in the early 1200s by Franciscan monks known as the Greyfriars and was much larger than its 19th century rebuild
Ford's Hospital Almshouses, Coventry. Ford's Hospital is named after William Ford who's will of 1509 endowed the almshouses built around a narrow court. It is one of the best preserved examples of a timber framed building in Coventry. It was badly damaged in the blitz air raid of November 1940 but rebuilt with the original timbers in 1951-1953.

The Golden Cross Inn, Bayley Lane, was originally built around 1583 has been much restored but still represents a good example of a late medieval timber framed building with oversailing or jettied upper floors on exposed timbers.
No. 22 and 23 Bayley Lane, Coventry, are worth a look at. No 22 is a cottage built around 1500 and the only remaining example of a timber framed building in the area. It is notable for its original carved and traceried woodwork. The chimneys were added in the 17th century and the shop window dates from the 19th century. To the right, No 23, a good example of a late 18th century (Georgian) refronting of an older building.
