Although much restored in R. G. Smith in 1869 and Hodgson Fowler in 1897, St Oswald Church retains much of its medieval architecture and character. There are some Norman features in the building such as the chancel arch and some characteristic Norman windows. *
St Oswald's Church, Filey: View of St Oswald from the south-east The 12th-century parish church of St Oswald stands on Church Hill to the north of the town centre. It is, most worthily, a Grade I listed building and the oldest building in Filey. The architectural historian Sir Nicholas Pevsner described St Oswald's Church, Filey, as "This is easily the finest church in the NE corner of the East Riding' Buildings of England".
