4. Appleton-le-Moors Village, fine buildings & Christ Church

Looking down the one and only street of the village of Appleton-le-Moors which dates from Norman times - a 'planned' post Conquest village.

Appleton Hall, 'The Hall', a substantial Early Victorian Vila, is a very splendid building and private residence, which is nearly opposite Christ Church.

Christ Church, Appleton-le-Moors was built around 1865 by J. L. Pearson in the 'French Gothic Revival' style of architecture.

A lot of work was put into this fine looking building and the interior is quite a surprise for a 'village' church!

The capitals of the piers and the font are intricately and most decoratively carved.

	Appleton-le-Moors, North York Moors National Park, North Yorkshire, Northern England - The Moors Inn is situated in the tiny medieval 'Norman designed-planned' village of Appleton-le-Moors a few miles north of the busy A170 Pickering-Helmsley road. It has several fine buildings including the Victorian 'French Gothic revival' church and the Hall. The Moors Inn serves up a really good bar meal with prompt friendly service.
