Duncombe Park, home to the Duncombe family, is one of Yorkshire’s fine historic house and estate, and is located in Helmsley in the North York Moors National Park. The Duncombe Park estate has over 450 acres of spectacular gardens, parklands and a nature reserve. Within the grounds of Duncombe Park is the National Centre for Birds of Prey. Duncombe Park hosts all sorts of events e.g. Land Rover off-roading, dirtbike action, the British Falconry Fair, Duncombe Park Country Fair, a farmyard party, Duncombe Park Steam Fair and music concerts of the Ryedale Festival. Duncombe Park's parklands include waymarked walks, discovery trails and orienteering courses for all ages which explore the woodlands, river valley, meadows, woodland skyline and commercial forestry. The gardens of Duncombe Park include the great lawn and level terraces, temples, yew tree walk, woodland walks and the scented 'secret garden' around the old conservatory. There are fine views of the valley 180ft. below and the distant moors. Duncombe Park hosts weddings, what a setting! in the18th century landscaped gardens and surrounded by rolling parkland.

 Sir Charles Duncombe bought the Helmsley Estate in 1689 and died in 1711. The estate fell to his married niece, whose husband, Thomas Brow, took the name Duncombe. Th house was probably designed by the amateur architect William Wakefield before 1711 but the original Duncombe Park house was definitely built by 1713. However, much of Duncombe Park house was destroyed by fire in 1879, but from 1895 was rebuilt to the original designs by William Young.
