General view of the east end of Tewkesbury Abbey. The earliest church was founded in the 7th century and a priory in the 10th century,. The present 'Romanesque' style building was started in the 12th century. Building began in 1102 with stone imported from Caen in France. The end result was one of the finest Norman buildings in England.

The four figures of the 'Touching Souls' sculpture by the side of the cafe at Tewkesbury Abbey. Touching Souls is the name of this sculpture at the entrance to the cafe tearoom of Tewkesbury Abbey. It is a replica of the same sculpture in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, USA. It was created by sculptor Mico Kaufman and cast in bronze showing four children - a native-American, a European-American, an African-American and an Asian-American. All four figures are sitting on the ground, legs outstretched, with the soles of their shoes touching.
