Friar Street is the most interesting street in Worcester from the point of view of exploring timber-framed buildings from the later 15th , 16th and early 17th century buildings - many are Grade I or II listed buildings.  It isn't a long street, but it is packed with numerous old buildings occupied by several independent traders and cafes and restaurants galore!  The 'pride and joy' of xyx must be the large and fine building of Greyfriars with its cafe and garden to retreat into out of the tourist bustle of Friar Street, Worcester.  As well as the Cathedral and the banks of the River Severn, this is a MUST to explore!

The Globe Bistro on left, the black & white 3-storey timber-framed building is dated 1641 and 1557 (41 Friar Street, considered early 17th century and front modified in 19th century), right G and Tea Vintage Tea Tearooms, Cafe and Bakery (45 Friar Street, 16th century and re-using 15th century door, re-fronted in brick in the 18th century).

The beautiful 16th century timber-framed Tudor House in Friar Street, that also houses a Museum illustrating life in the Tudor times of the 16th century.

This timber-framed building was first erected in 1520,. It was originally three dwellings, owned or rented by different trades people from the 17th century onwards.

Another timber-framed building in Friar Street, houses the Thai Gallery and Restaurant (26-32 Friar Street). Most of the building has its origins from the late 15th to the late 16th centuries.

On the left part of brick and timber-framed Nos 14, 16 and 18 Friar Street, origins in the 16th century (two developments in ~1526-1544 and 1536-1575), Mark A Linley Goldsmith, middle the fine timber-framed building of the Hat Box Jx shop (No 16 Friar Street), the right-hand end houses the National Trust gift shop, opposite Greyfriars.

Greyfriars, the finest brick and two storey timber-framed building in Friar Street and owned and run by the National Trust in Worcester.

The name is 'in error', since it was incorrectly believed to be associated with the medieval Franciscan Friary (hence the name Friar Street), but in reality was merchants house of the late 15th century.

It is thought it was originally built around 1485 by Thomas Grene a brewer and High Bailiff of Worcester from 1493-1497.

Far left the right-hand end of No 8, in the middle - a neat little timber-framed building of the late 16th century, now occupied by Sophie Wynne-Owen Couture Bridal and Evening wear (6 Friar Street) and the STEAM Coffee Cakes & Bakery tea room (No 4 Friar Street), on the far right the brick building of the Eagle Vaults public house, a popular historic pub, No 2 Friar Street, dating from ~1740.

The 'awesome' 4-storey timber-framed building now occupied by Papas Cafe at 6-8 New Street, Grade II listed building known as 'Nash House', right SIN restaurant, bar, dance and nightclub also in New Street, Worcester.
