Coastal scene looking west along the coast road towards Kilbaha Village, nearby rocks of Kilbaha Point, western end of Loop Head Peninsula, en route to the Loop head Peninsula.

There is a handy car park by the lighthouse and reception centre.

The Lighthouse Tower and car park at Loophead.

There are great views of the cliffs all around the Loop Head.

A lovely short stroll is walking around the lighthouse complex, follow the cliff edge, but not too close, the weather can be very windy!

There has been a lighthouse on Loop Head since 1670, once a coal-burning brazier on top of a cottage.

The first Loop Head lighthouse was built in 1802, but replaced in 1854 using oil lamps.

The Loop Head lighthouse was converted to electricity in 1971 and automated in 1991.

Wonderful views the great sea stack on the Loop Head Walk just to the north of the lighthouse headland.

Magnificent views of the Cliffs of Campoy on the Loop Head Walk, a truly wild Atlantic view.
