You walk down from Reeth centre to cross Reeth Bridge and head northwest skirting High Fremington from which you have a good view of Reeth and Calver Hill.

The first clear view of the limestone of Fremington Edge Top with the spoil heaps from lead mining and chert quarrying.
At the top of the track up Fremington Edge, a stone track leads directly to the remote hamlet of Hurst.
From Fremington Edge Top you walk almost due north to the old mining hamlet of Hurst of just a few houses.

After Hurst the track goes roughly west until you meet Fremington Edge again. and look down into Arkengarthdale.
You head NWW to cairns and disused tips and shafts
Looking down on the tiny hamlet of Booze in Arkengarthdale - a very small village indeed!

The walk turns sharp right to head southeast in the general direction of Reeth with Fremington Edge up on your left.
You follow the Arkle Beck for a time.
Looking northwest up Arkengarthdale as you head for Reeth.
