NYMR Autumn Steam Gala October 2010, 2015 & 2016

The North Yorkshire Moors Autumn Welsh Steam Gala was held from Friday September 30th to October 2nd 2016. The steam locomotives running were GWR 2807, 7822 FOXCOTE MANOR, Black 5s 44806 (running as 44776) and 45428 (running as 45344), B1 61264, BR standard locomotives 76079 (running as 76038), 76084 and 80136, and finally, US Army S160 locomotive 6046

In 2015 SR Maunsell Class U 2-6-0 31806 attended plus West Country Class 34092 WELLS the NYMR 2015 Autumn Steam Gala plus 45428, 63395, 75029 and 76079 from the home fleet of locomotives.

A little bit of Somerset and Dorset came to Yorkshire from\October 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 2010. The NYMR heritage steam railway has chosen to recreate the romance and the atmosphere of the classic Somerset & Dorset (S&D) line as a theme for this years Autumn Steam Gala. The NYMR already has two genuine Somerset & Dorset engines operating on its line. The first is recently acquired ‘9F’ BR standard locomotive 92214 which was one of the last and most powerful steam engines to have been built by British Rail and was originally shedded at 82F Bath Green Park depot for working over the ‘S&D’.  The second is 53809, one of a class of 10 heavy freight 7F 2-8-0 engines, built in 1925 at Darlington, especially for the ‘S&D’. The 3rd link with the overlap of the Southern Railway and the Midland Railway (after the S&D was absorbed in 1923) is star attraction is the Battle of Britain Class Pacific 34070 MANSTON. The occasion was further enhanced by the presence of  Ex BR Class J72 0-6-0 tank engine 69023 at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway 2010 Autumn Steam Gala.
