The western exit of the Glory Hole of the High Bridge over the River Witham, Lincoln The Glory Hole is the name given by generations of river users to the High Bridge in Lincoln. It's narrow and crooked arch sets a limit on the size of boats using the Witham and going from Brayford Pool, at the start of Foss Dyke, to Boston and the sea.
"The Glory Hole, Lincoln" oil on canvas by Edmund John Niemann (1813-1876) = looks a lot better these days!
