My unofficial support for Salters Advanced Subsidiary Chemistry - My AS Homepage

* This page is to be used in conjunction with My Salters Chemistry A2 homepage * Revision Index *

Salters students scroll down to see what's on offer

A useful alphabetical site indexPLEASE REMEMBER, THESE ARE NOT 'STAND ALONE' NOTES, and were designed for my classes for use alongside the Salters resources - Chemical Ideas, Chemical Storylines, Practical Activities-Investigations and the AS-A2 Revision guides to reduce the reading workload and offer a study strategy. From your teacher (not me!), its handy to have the answers to the Chemical Ideas, Storylines Assignments and Activities Questions side by side with the texts and these strategy pages. You haven't time to redo the Q's but a quick read of the Q's and connecting with the official answers is valuable revision.

3a. Detailed Revision Notes on s-block metals: Group 1 "Alkali Metals" and 2 "Alkaline Earth Metals" (BUT these notes are very detailed AND serve ALL UK syllabus's, so beware Salters students, you do not need to know the lot! - check the learning objectives for EL, a comment that applies to all my notes)

3b. Selected data and graphs for s-block Group 1-2 metals

3c. Starter multiple choice test on the s-block metals: Group 1 "Alkali Metals" and 2 "Alkaline Earth Metals" (lots of easy Q's at GCSE level as well as AS)

3d. Multiple choice test on EL (covers many aspects eg Periodic Table ideas, Group 1 and 2 chemistry, some basic calculations,  but the tests listed in section 2. provide just as much useful EL revision material, particularly the radioactivity and calculations, and further Q's are being devised to cover other aspects of EL)

4.  Short notes on "Shapes of Molecules" electron pair repulsion theory and bond angles combined with the covalent molecules on the GCSE bonding notes page.

5. Short answer test on EL (not developed, but has got a set of Q's on molecule shapes and bond angles)

6. scribble on error analysis in Activity EL 1.1 and EL 2.1

7. Periodicity : Data- Graphs for Periods 1-4 (and start of 5) for elements Z= 1-20, 1-38 or 1-88

8. Summary of inorganic chemical tests for gases and ions etc. (alphabetical index at top of page, handy throughout course)

9. Influence of molecular structure-intermolecular forces on boiling points
