12. More Whitby Streets, buildings and the 199 steps! Scenes of Whitby and surrounding area
On the west side of Whitby, Baxtergate, one of the main shopping streets, runs down to the harbour near the swing bridge.
Whitby Merchant Seamens Hospital Houses founded in 1675 (refurbished 1996) on Church Street on the east side of the river.

The Old Town Hall of Whitby, Market Place, Church Street, erected by Nathaniel Cholmley in 1798.
