There is a good car park and
picnic area at Ty-Nant is a few miles south-west of
Dolgellau. It is an excellent
base and starting point for climbing Cader Idris Mountain.
The is also a bunkhouse at TY-NANT house which is just on
the left of the track near the start of the 'Pony Track'
walking route up Cader Idris. The YHA Youth Hostel at
Kings in the
Penmaenpool direction is not
too far away either. There are glorious views all the way up
and down Cader Idris on the Pony Track, though on our day
out there, the top was a bit misty, never-the-less we
pressed on to the summit! A splendid and satisfying walk
before spending the night at Machynlleth before visiting the
Centre for Alternative Technology the
next day. |
