The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway runs steam trains on the wonderfully scenic line from Whitby-Grosmont-Goathland-Pickering. The shop on the platform of Goathland Station sells drinks and snacks and note the lovely purple heather of the surrounding moorland.

If you have had enough of the steam locomotive trains, walk up through Goathland Village which at times acts as the film set of the UK ITV drama series called "Heartbeat" where Goathland becomes 'Aidensfield' and the Goathland Hotel becomes the 'Aidensfield Arms'. On the left is 'Aidensfield's Scripps Garage and Funeral Services'. There also glorious walks over the surrounding countryside.
