Bedale is a busy 'big village' i.e. a small market town worth pausing for on your car trip to the Yorkshire Dales. Panetti's Cafe-Bistro is right by the great Church of St Gregory is well worth a visit and please leave a donation to help in its upkeep. Inside is a medieval George and Dragon discovered in 1926, but this isn't a pub!

Aunt Sally's Coffee Shop is in the main street which has quite a few Georgian houses. Bedale is a most friendly town and it is also served by the Wensleydale Railway.

The Waggon and Horses Tea (Black Sheep Brewery, with tea  and coffee advertised too (above) and The Old Black Swan (left) are two good pubs and both buildings seem quite old (Georgian architecture?) and we did like all the flowers adorning both centres of refreshment!
