The Captain Cooke Museum in Great Ayton.

Suggitt's Icecream is a popular reason for visiting Great Ayton and they allow parking across from the shop on the other side of the River Leven.

Great Ayton: The old Church of All Saints consists of a nave and chancel. The tower was demolished in 1880.

Great Ayton: The sun dial is dated 1743 and in the graveyard are buried the mother of Captain Cook and five of her children.

The Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, the tower and chancel are medieval Perpendicular style. Plenty of cafe's in Stokesley ...
The 'new' (and ugly) Town Hall was built in 1853-1854 to replace an older town house and toll booth ... and plenty of pubs and hotels in Stokesley too!
The old? 'packhorse' bow bridge of Stokesley town.

The Parish Church has been a site of Christian worship for 1000 years. The nave was rebuilt in 1771 and contains several fine stained glass windows.

Stokesley, North Yorkshire, is a very pleasant small town and always seems busy and bustling with activity. In the high street (top left) The Angel Cafe & Tearoom (left) and the Tearoom above the Yorkshire Store (right) were welcome refuges on a damp grey day waiting for the car to be repaired. There are some fine interesting buildings to see and a walk by the river, but one must return on a fine day!
