The church of Sainte-Chappele built in 1248 by Louis IX to house religious relics, has been hailed as one of the greatest architectural masterpieces of the western world.

The church of Sainte-Chappele built in 1248 by Louis IX to house religious relics, has been hailed as one of the greatest architectural masterpieces of the western world. The spire of height 75m (245 ft) was erected in 1853 after the previous three had all burnt down!
