2. Church of St-Merry (Merri) and around the Pompidou Centre
The beautiful splendour outer 'flamboyant gothic' style of the mid 16th century Church of St-Merry (completed 1552) on Place Igor Stravinsky. In the left-foreground is the first Parisian contemporary fountain created by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely. The pool also contains numerous interesting 'figures' to ' view' before moving on to the Pompidou Centre!
The 'blue pipes' of the Pompidou Centre on Rue du Renard which houses the Musee National d'Art Moderne. All the usual infrastructure of a building e.g. air/water duct pipes, lifts/escalators etc and even much of the essential structural support is on the 'outside'. Its almost as if the Pompidou Centre is 'inside out'!
The main entrance to the Pompidou Centre in Place Georges Pompidou off Rue St Merry.
