The 1st 'Black 5', LMS 5000, BR 45000 black 5, built Crewe Locomotive Works in 1935 and now resides in York National Railway Museum

BLACK FIVE 45428 ERIC TREACY

Stanier Black Five 45428 ERIC TREACY heading south past Moorgates with a train for Pickering. 45428 is an LMS Black 5 mixed traffic locomotive built by Armstrong Whitworth Newcastle in 1935. This locomotive finished its BR working life at 55A Holbeck shed, the LMS locomotive depot in Leeds. It has worked on the NYMR for many years and has had new driving wheel tyres fitted. 45428 is fitted with the requisite electronic cab warning system (TPWS) to enable it to operate on the national rail network including the Esk Valley Line from Whitby to Battersby.
