Scenes on the North Yorkshire Moors
Railway
A homage to the Great NYMR via various views
of trains, locomotives, scenery
One of many interesting places
to visit and stay with good walks in the North York Moors
National Park

Pickering.
Sometimes incorrectly referred to as
the 'North York Moors Railway' or the 'North Yorks Moor Railway'!,\but, whatever, the line is set in the beautiful North York
Moors National Park in North Yorkshire, Northern England and these steam
train rides are a major tourist attraction - lots of steam train photos
of locomotives in action

Note
-
Grosmont is
at the hub of the NYMR operations with its station platform
interchange with Network Rail, the locomotive depot, restoration and
maintenance workshops and carriage sheds.
-
Goathland and
Levisham are the two 'crossing' places on this mainly single track
railway, so two trains are usually co-reside for a few minutes.
-
Newtondale
Halt is a request stop station, so if on the platform, put your hand
out as if its a bus! and if on the train PLEASE tell the guard you
want to get off and also make sure you are in the correct carriage -
the trains are quite long and Newtondale Halt has a relatively short
platform!
-
Goathland is
the setting for TV's 'Aidensfield' the village in the very popular ITV
series called 'Heartbeat'
-
Pickering is
a very pleasant friendly town with the Beck Isle Museum, medieval
Pickering Castle and the Church of St Peter and St Paul (medieval
wall paintings) which are all worth a visit.
-
Whitby Town
is a popular tourist destination whether the visitors come to stay
or day-trippers. With its shops, places to eat, beaches, harbour of
boats and yachts, historic buildings like St Mary's Church and
Whitby Abbey and coastal walks, it has much to offer the visitor.

STEAM LOCOMOTIVE ACTION! STEAM HERITAGE RAILWAY My homage to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway
- A great steam heritage line and offers luxury Pullman coach dining
trains * Travelling by train
always seems a pleasure, especially if through wonderful scenery either
in England, Scotland, Wales or on holiday in the rest of Europe! The
railway trip involves seeing or travelling behind a 'real' steam
locomotive in action and there is nothing like the sight and sounds of a
steam train to invoke feelings of nostalgia in some of us, even more
luxury by having a special trip out on a steam dining train!
