4. Derbyshire Eyam (2) The Parish Church of St Lawrence and its Saxon Cross
The Parish Church of St Lawrence in the village of Eyam. It dates from Saxon times with rebuilding and additions by the Normans in the 11th century and through the later medieval period. The present building is mainly 13th and 14th century stonework
The 8th-9th? century Saxon Cross in churchyard of Eyam Parish Church. The cross is carved with both Christian and pagan symbols. The church is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Eyam.
