The exterior of Church of St Giles Cripplegate. A Saxon, followed by a Norman church were built here around AD 1090. In 1394 a medieval church was built in the English perpendicular style was built, but fires in 1594, 1897 and 1940 ('London Blitz') caused much damage to the church, which was restored in 1966 and further restoration work in 2007 (time of this photograph).

One of the stained glass windows of St Giles Cripplegate. The three panels from left to right depict (i) The Fortune Theatre, Golden Lane, (ii) Edward Alleyn 1566-1628, 'Benefactor of this Parish' and (iii) St Luke's Church, Old Street. He was the founder of Dulwich College in 1619.
