14. Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere February 2012 English Lake District, Cumbria (ex Cumberland/Westmorland) WINDERMERE
Looking across Lake Windermere near Ambleside, towards the Langdale Pikes, seen in the distant right of centre.
View of Lake Windermere near Ambleside (on the right) and on the far left are the distinctive outline of the Langdale Pikes.
However, we moved on through Booths and past Windermere Station to take refreshment at the excellent First Floor Cafe (above right) of the Lakeland chain store, which looks out in the Lake Windermere direction (above left).
The view of Lake Windermere (above right) was taken from the A591 road between Windermere and Ambleside.
We then returned to Windermere where we were staying for the night. There is a free car park (upto 2 hours) by the very good Booths supermarket, which also has a coffee.
