60. Glenveagh National Park and
last day in Rathmullan of our Irish summer holiday of 2008
SCENES
from IRELAND

Muckish Mountain en route from Rathmullan to
Glenveagh National Park and Glenveagh Castle.

Lots of wild open country in this part of
Donegal with virtually no houses at all as we drive into the Glenveagh
National Park.
The display area in the Glenveagh National
Park Centre.

Lough Beagh (Lough Veagh?) near Glenveagh Castle in
Glenveagh National Park. At the head of the lake in the distance is the
Poisoned Glen and the Derryveagh Mountains.

The entrance to Glenveagh Castle built around
1870 by John George Adair a wealthy land speculator from County Laois.
He expelled 47 families in 1861 (the 'Derryveagh Evictions') to make way
for the project.

The tearoom!

The extensive gardens of Glenveagh Castle.

More views of Lough Beagh and there lovely
walks to do even if the weather is a bit grey!.
