54. A circular walk over Slievemore Mountain, Return to the Deserted Village and a return to the Cottage Cafe at Dugort Beach, Achill Island, Co. Mayo SCENES from IRELAND
One route up Slievemore mountain is to go up through the deserted village on its southern slope.

On the way back from walking from Dugort Village to the Deserted Village you pass the cottage where the German writer Heinrich Boll lived and worked for a period.

An ancient Christian cross-gravestone? and a rather more 'modern' shrine.
The deserted village guided walk is a popular tourist attraction AND then we drove back to the cottage cafe in Dugort!
and a visit to an interesting artists workshop!

In the evening we went to look at the reservoir above Dooagh which supplies Achill Island with its water.
