On the left, the ruined Augustinian Priory,
in the middle, the medieval St Mary's Church, and on the right, the Catholic

The church tower of St Mary (middle building)
is 12th C and known as the 'White Tower', the far left priory ruin is known as

There are plenty of places to eat and drink
in Inistioge e.g. 'The Circle of Friends' in the centre of the village (left) and 'The Old
Schoolhouse Cafe' down by the river (right) and most welcome hospitality
as the weather changed dramatically!

Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland:
Inistioge is a
small and picturesque village set on the banks of the
beautiful Rive Nore in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is a popular
tourist destination, with lots to see and hosts an awful lot
of places to eat and drink in the way of bars, pubs, cafe's,
restaurants etc. e.g. the budget 'Old Schoolhouse'
River Cafe on the banks of the River Nore spanned by a fine
multi-arched bridge. |

|
 |
The Circle of
Friends Restaurant is named after the film that was shot in
the village of Inistioge and there is also the 'Square Cafe'
below it. A stroll by the beautiful setting of the River Nore and visit to the
historic church of St. Marys, Church of Ireland, should help
work up a good appetite before eating in the village.

Just up from
one of several ruined medieval buildings in the village is the splendidly
gaily painted O'Donnell's Bar, a typical 'Irish' bar-pub,
in Inistioge, but watch the Guinness consumption or you will
be ruined and end up in an early grave! In this case the
graveyard of St Mary's (Church of Ireland) and St.
Columcille's (Catholic Church). |
