30. Reginald's Tower and Museum, Waterford, Co. Waterford
Reginald's Tower is supposed to have been erected in 1003 by Reginald the Dane, but the current building possibly dates from the 12th century. The marina quay complex can be seen on the right.
It has been attacked by Richard FitzGilbert (Strongbow) in 1170 and by Perkin Warbeck in 1497.
The tower has acted successfully as fortress, arsenal, mint, prison and finally a museum! There is a good audio-visual display describing the history of Waterford. * Glorious Ireland for good walking, family or mini-break holidays and something for every tourist visiting this beautiful and friendly country.
