20. Liss Ard Gardens and Barley Cove near Skibbereen and the Mizen Head Lighthouse, Co. Cork
Liss Ard Gardens near Skibberen. There are lakes and wild meadow land where native wild flowers and insects can flourish.
There is also a 'sky garden' which consists of a huge crater in which you lie on the stone slabs and look up at the sky!
After visiting the Liss Ard Gardens we drove on to Mizen Head. Looking across to Barley Cove from the road to the Mizen Head Lighthouse and is much better than gazing idly upto the sky! there is too much to see and do on the south-west coast of Cork on this 'Atlantic' ocean facing part of Ireland.
View of Mizen Head from the track down to the lighthouse.
The 'southern' points of Mizen Head.
A classic anticline rock formation.
The spectacular rock formations at Mizen Head (above, from the bridge to the lighthouse, below, from the lighthouse itself looking north along the coast towards Toe Head).
