12a. The Rivers Suir and Barrow, the coast near Dunmore East and Tramore, Co. Waterford and New Ross (Co. Wexford) (see also page 25 for more pictures around Dunmore East)
The safe and delightful beaches of Dunmore East, great for traditional family outings to the seaside, no need for computer games here!
Along the coastal sandstone cliff path to Tramore, an excellent walk, though all the way is quite long, best to go from Dunmore East to Portally (below) and return the same route.
Lots of wild flowers on the cliff walk.
The huge and popular Tramore Strand (beach), excellent breakers when the wind is up a bit. On the distant right are the 'metal men' which are navigation points for fishing vessels entering Dunmore East or Tramore harbours.
The car ferry from Passage East (Co. Waterford) to Ballyhack (Co. Wexford) and on down to Hooke Head (see page 25). The 16th century Ballyhack Castle, a fortified tower house, is straight ahead.
The "Dunbrody", a replica of SS Dunbrody, a famine sailing ship that carried thousands of Irish immigrants to America, is moored on the River Barrow at New Ross, Co. Wexford.
