5. Megalithic prehistoric tomb on the road from Donegal to Sligo and driving through 'Joyce Country' en route to Connemara, Co. Galway
Creevykeel prehistoric court tomb cairn, County Sligo, north of Sligo Town on the N15 Donegal road.
Its a fine example of a court cairn with a full 'court' circle of stones surrounding a wedge cairn type of burial tomb and is likely to be over 4000 years old.
Shallow pits at the west end of the gallery of the tomb contained cremated burials, polished axe heads, flint arrowheads and Neolithic pottery.
Driving through 'Joyce Country' near Maam Cross, en route to Connemara, Galway. Beautiful, even on a grey day.
