15b. A Summer Walk in Kirk Dale See also 15a. A spring/autumn walk from St Gregory Minster in Kirkdale
The fields stretching south down to the A170 Helmsley road You can park on the side of Green Lane south-east of Sleightholme Dale Lodge (fantastic gardens) - in fact this is the road to Sleightholme Dale Lodge. You walk north-east back up Green Lane, turn right south and at Woolah turn left across the fields to Hagg Wood.
Then head south for Robin Hood's Howl.
The footpath through the narrow wooded limestone valley of Robin Hood's Howl.
Looking south to the crossroads north of Howkeld House.
Looking back to Robin Hood's Howl.
At the cross-roads turn right to head for the Kirkdale Caves and St Gregory Minster.
St Gregory's Minster, Kirkdale
To the left of St Gregory's Minster head north, keeping close, but always to the east of Hodge Beck.
A rather dry river bed near the Minster, but evidence of the fotbridge being swept away in the past!
Eventually, from the track north, you come out just south of Sleightholme Dale Lodge (fantastic gardens), do a clockwise U turn up the road and swing round to the left back into Green Lane.
