8. Riccal Dale - Autumn and Spring with a walk amongst the bluebells
One appraoch to a circular walk in Riccal Dale is to start from the village of Pockley with its pretty thatched houses.

At the top northern end of Riccal Dale and in the distance then open high moorland of heather.

Spring in Riccal Dale The pictures speak for themselves. Riccaldale has the greatest display of bluebell flowers I've ever seen. Riccal Dale is just north of the A170 Helmsley-Pickering road, about 2 miles east of Helmsley. Need an OS map to find it.
Lots of primroses on the sides of the woodland and forest tracks.

BUT there is much more to Riccal Dale than the bluebells. It is a great place for many wild flowers and further up Riccal dale there are great views south back down the Dale and north in the direction of Bransdale.
