Location 14a: Grosmont Station.
The platform on the right serves the Whitby-Middlesbrough line (Northern
Rail in 2007-2008). On the left are the platforms and signals of the North
Yorkshire Moors Railway for the steam trains to Goathland, which exit
Grosmont through the tunnel (in the top left of the picture ) to
Goathland, Levisham and
Pickering, a major tourist attraction of the North York Moors National
Park.

Travelling by train
always seems a pleasure, especially if through wonderful scenery. Occasionally the
railway trip might involve seeing or travelling behind a 'real' steam
locomotive in action and there is nothing like the sight and sounds of a
steam train to invoke feelings of nostalgia in some of us!

I always find long
distance railway train journeys in England and Scotland are scenic and
pleasing and interesting to the eye and no doubt one day in Europe. |
